About Washington
Washington is composed of two geographical areas split by the Cascade Mountain Range. On the western side of the state, the land is green and very often is wet. On the Olympic Peninsula, you will find a rain forest, which is very rare for the United States. The majority of Washington’s population is clustered around three major cities located around Puget Sound. Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia. The eastern part of the state has a completely different environment. It is often dry and is almost desert like. Seattle on the other hand, is where all the action takes places and where the beauty is at. From Seattle you can see Mount Olympia, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker and the famous Space Needle, which all give great shine to the Pacific Northwest. The San Juan Islands located north of Seattle offer many beauties including sea otters, sea lions, puffins, deer, owls, and the famous orcas. Washington is not only known for its beauty but of the great accomplishments, this state has done. Seattle has one of the biggest salmon market, home to Microsoft, Amazon, and the coffee giant Starbucks. Washington has lodging on the beaches of the San Juan islands. It also has accommodations in log cabins in the mountains.  Ski, snowboard, or have fun in the snow of Washington.
