About California
California is “The Golden State.” Ever since the early 18th century Spanish conquistadors have been drawn to California in search for the golden city of El Dorado. Until 1848 California was not well known, then gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill. Forty thousand people flooded California in search for gold. This made a huge market for farmers and other businesses. Today California is the home of Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the famous Disneyland’s Magical Kingdom. Los Angles has the hottest trends, the most celebrities, and the best beaches. San Francisco on the other hand has a real downtown, cable cars, and the Golden Gate bridge. Some of the best wines are also produced in Napa, Sonoma and Russian River valleys. The Sierra Nevada is a magnificent mountain range and the home of Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe. Death Valley, also in California, has the lowest spot in the western hemisphere reaching 282 feet below sea level. California is a worthwhile place to visit through its movie industries and other local attractions.
